Medical-Legal Core

The Medical-Legal Core is focused on bridging the longstanding gap between the medical and legal care of forcibly displaced populations. Working closely with physicians and attorneys, we advance the health of displaced individuals through synergistic programs and interventions such as a speaker series, joint casework, and innovative research.

Core Director: Andrew Milewski, M.D., Ph.D

Collaborative medical-legal casework through Weill Cornell Medicine and Cornell Law School, for example, prepares students for the complex, interdisciplinary needs of patients and clients. Our research in digital technologies harnesses the ubiquitous use of digital tools to bring together legal knowledge of medical rights, and to connect forcibly displaced people with healthcare resources and providers.
